Rita Pires, PhD Student from the Doctoral Program in Food Science at NOVA FCT and a member of the research unit Laboratório Associado para a Química Verde (LAQV-REQUIMTE), won the Best Poster Presentation Award at the ISAP 2024 International Conference - 8th Congress of the International Society for Applied Phycology, which took place in the city of Porto, Portugal, from 16 to 21 June 2024.
The awarded poster, titled "Beyond Basic Nutrition: Elevating Heterotrophic Chlorella’s Value with Iron, Zinc, and Selenium", addresses the supplementation of Chlorella with three minerals (iron, zinc, and selenium) exploring various aspects, such as: interactions between these minerals when added together, Chlorella's growth in such conditions, the quantity of these elements present in the biomass, and a comparison with daily recommended intakes for food and feed applications.
