Ema Conceição, a student in the Master’s in Biochemistry at NOVA FCT, set a new Portuguese absolute record in the 100 m freestyle (short-course pool) during the 111th Anniversary Tournament of Sport Algés e Dafundo, held on 3 July in Algés.
The swimmer completed the race in 54.28 seconds, surpassing the previous national record of 54.66 seconds, which had been held by Ana Pinho Rodrigues since 2019. This achievement marks an important milestone in Portuguese swimming and further confirms Ema Conceição’s outstanding athletic career.
Currently pursuing the Master’s in Biochemistry in the Department of Chemistry at NOVA FCT, Ema Conceição is an inspiring example of how demanding scientific training can be successfully combined with high-performance sport.
