On June 9, Ivo Marújo Gil Matoso successfully defended his Integrated Master's dissertation in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.
His dissertation, entitled "Analysis and Optimization of a Waste Heat Recovery System in the Cement Industry", was carried out at Secil under the supervision of Eng. Leonardo Fagundes (Secil) and Professor Mário Eusébio (Department of Chemistry). The aim of his work was to develop and optimize a simulation model of the waste heat recovery system at the Outão cement plant, based on an Organic Rankine Cycle, enabling the assessment of the system's energy performance, the optimization of operation and maintenance strategies, and the evaluation of decarbonization solutions for the cement industry.
