UCIBIO researchers of the C4O group act as guest editors for a special issue on PROTEOMICS - Clinical Applications Journal
Carlos Lodeiro and José Luis Capelo, heads of the Bioscope group (C4O) at UCIBIO in Lisbon, and Hugo Santos, researcher of the same group have just launched a Special Issue on the PROTEOMICS - Clinical Applications Journal (Wiley Online Library).
Carlos Lodeiro and Luis Capelo explain that this special issue aims to report the important role of urine as a source of health information for many disease’s diagnosis and prognosis. The authors highlight that the modern sample treatments in conjunction with (i) technological improvements in mass spectrometry and (ii) up-to-date analysis of large collections of data have brought the analysis of the urine proteome to unexpected levels of confidence.
This special issue compiles research articles from 20 international research groups from various countries including Unites States, United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany and South Africa, and aims to provide an updated overview on the advances in analysing proteins in urine and how useful it can be for clinical diagnostics.
