ICP-AES

(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy)

Description

ICP-AES technique is suitable for the analysis of elements in different matrices solid, liquid, organic and inorganic (biological materials / proteins, animal and plant cells, milk, fish, etc.), water, metal alloys, synthetic products / pharmaceuticals or other) in the concentration range of ppb-ppm, present in any matrix that is soluble in aqueous media (acidic, basic or salt).

The ICP allows analysis of virtually all chemical elements (which exhibit emission bands of adequate sensitivity) in the range of 180-800 nm, with detection limits of concentration to the ppb for most elements and the simultaneous analysis of up to 73 elements in a single sample.

Equipment

ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer) Horiba Jobin-Yvon, France, Ultima, model equipped with a 40.68 MHz RF generator, Czerny-Turner monochromator with 1.00 m (sequencial), autosampler AS500 and CMA (Concomitant Metals Analyser) for the determination of Hg, As, Se, Sb and Sn, in the ppb range, simultaneously with other elements.

Sample

The samples are analyzed in aqueous solution. The volume required depends on the number of elements to be determined. At least 1 ml of solution per element is required for analysis. In the event that prompted the development of method will require a minimum of 10 ml solution per element.

Analysis Request

The analysis request should be filled and signed by the head of the institution that makes the request (Download the application form). Analyses are performed by order of submission of application in laboratory analysis. The results are given within 24 hours. In the case of samples for method development and in the case of large number of samples, the response time is agreed with the authority solicitor.

The equipment is operated solely by the technician in charge. If requested by the client it is allowed direct contact with the equipment which provides a brief technical/theoretical accompanied demonstration working practice.

Upon request of an analysis the client should contact the technician directly responsible for the equipment to clarify all issues that involve the analysis.

Delivery and receipt of samples

1 - Samples must be clearly identified, so that during manipulation does not erase the identification, and should be delivered well packaged.

2 - Delivery of results will be made by e-mail in PDF format, to be sent simultaneously to the applicant and responsible. In the case of complaints, they should be made within 15 working days.

3 - The remainder of the samples will be stored in the laboratory for 15 days after completion of the analysis, after which will be eliminated.
